Overview :- HEMISH national park is A high Altitude national Park in INDIA, Globaly Famous for it’s Snow lepard, it’s believed to have the highest density of them in any protected area in the World. (1) it is the only one national park in INDIA that is north of the HIMALAYAS, the largest notified protected area in INDIA ( Largest national park ) & is the ( second Largest contiguous protected area bafter then NANDA DAVI Biosphere reserve & surrounding procted area). The park is home to number of the species of endangered mammals , include the snow Leopard. HEMISH National park is INDIA’ S protected area in side the palearctic realm, out side the Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary north east of HEMISH ,& the proposed Tso Lhamo cold Desert Conservation Area in North SIKKIM.
The park is bounded on the north by the banks of the Indus River , & include the catchments of Markha, Sunday & Rumbak, & parts of the Zsnskar Range.
